習慣與自然

一根小小的柱子，一截細細的鏈子，拴得住一頭千斤重的大象，這不荒謬嗎？可這荒謬的場景在印度和秦國隨處可見。那些馴象人，在大象還是小象的時候，就用一條鐵鏈將它綁在水泥柱或鋼柱上，無論小象怎么掙扎都無法掙脫。小象漸漸地習慣了不掙扎，直到長成了大象，可以輕而易舉地掙脫鏈子時，也不掙扎。

馴虎人本來也像馴象人一樣成功，他讓小虎從小吃素，直到小虎長大。老虎不知肉味，自然不會傷人。馴虎人的致命錯誤在于他摔了跤之后讓老虎舔凈他流在地上的血，老虎一舔不可收，終于將馴虎人吃了。

小象是被鏈子綁住，而大象則是被習慣綁住。

曾經被習慣綁住，而馴虎人則死于習慣（他已經習慣于他的老虎不吃人）。

習慣幾乎可以綁住一切，只是不能綁住偶然。比如那只偶然嘗了鮮血的老虎。

Habit and nature
